Just See It

I had the opportunity to screen Catfish before it was released in Houston for the Houston Social Media Club!  Ah-ma-zing.  Don't want to spoil it for you so I will just say it's a great film that explores the phenomenon of social networking.

Another social media film comes out today, The Social Network.  This one is about the creation of Facebook.  Of course, Facebook founder Zuckerberg and his people say its complete fiction.  Fact or fiction- I really want to see it.

The Rare Short-Sleeve Turtleneck

I have a thing for turtlnecks.  They are my go-to piece for fall/winter.  They are great by themselves with jeans on the weekends or underneath jackets for work.  I just love them, even though my husband hates them!

Living in Houston, where we only have a few weeks of truly cold weather, it's sometimes a little unrealistic to wear the more common long-sleeve turtleneck underneath a jacket without sweating to death, which is where my love affair with the short-sleeve version comes from.

My two staple, chocolate and black ss sweaters have seen better days and desperately need replacing, but I am having the hardest time!  HELP!  Does anyone know where I can find them???

I've searched high and low at all my usual places: Macy's, Talbots, ATLoft and nothing!  The only thing I found was a cashmere version (above) at Ann Taylor, but the whopping $128.00 price tag, is just not an option.

Any suggestions?

A Fun Read

I just read Last Night at Chateau Marmont by Lauren Weisberger, the author of The Devil Wears Prada.  The book followsthe fictional Brooke and Julian, a married couple who experiences the price of fame once Julian's song hits number four on the billboard music charts.  A tour with Maroon Five, appearances on the Today Show, papparazzi, affairs and lots of celebrities!  I recommend it for anyone who is looking for a light, entertaining read.  It is not going to change your life or even make you think.  It's pure escapism and fun.  My only complaint is the ending.  I don't want to give it away, but let's just say it's a little too "fairy-tale" for me.  If you like reading US Weekly, you will love this book!

Next up for me is completely different: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher.  This young adult book has been on the New York Times Bestseller list and was highly recommended by Mojito Maven.  It explains the aftermath of a teenage girl's suicide and the reasons why she made her decision.  I will let you know how it is.

Other books that are on my reading list are:
-  Dune Road by Jane Green
-  Hope in a Jar by Beth Harbison
-  The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
-  Twenties Girl, Sophie Kinsella
-  Happy Ever After, Nora Roberts

Why didn't I think of that...

A friend of mine (thanks Jenni) just told me about a great bra at Soma Intimates that has a piece of lace across the top for those plunging necklines.  I love V-Necks, but I also don't love when my tops or dresses are too low for work.  Just today, I had to wear a camisole under a wrap dress.  That paired with my required spanx is just a lot of undergarment for the summer!

Problem solved...

These bras come in many color options too.  You can wear your basic colors like black and white or jazz up a plain top with a pop of color like purple, navy, periwinkle and silver!

**Right now Soma is offering Buy 1, Get 1 half off on these bras.  I tried the bra on today...so incredibly comfortable, great fit and it really does look great under tops and dresses!  I bought basic black and ivory...boring, I know, but that's what I wear!

Another solution:  I have also seen triangle shaped lace stickers that are attached to the inside of your shirt to create the illusion of a camisole without the entire shirt.  You can order these in a vaierty of colors and the concept is the same.  I could not find their website...if you know it, pass it along.
