Last weekend we took a vacation day on Friday and headed to Fredericksburg with The Farmers. Just like our last trip together to New Orleans we had a great time, eating, drinking, resting and spending time together.
Friday
We hit the road early (for a vacation day) so we could make it to Lockhart, Texas by lunchtime for
Black's Barbecue. I had never heard of it, but it's been rated one of the best BBQ places by Texas Monthly, food shows and won tons of contests. It was awesome! Everything was great - we sampled brisket, sausage, and ribs, but the table favorite was the brisket, hands down. I also recommend the peach cobbler. One order is plenty for a group of four!

We then drove to
Luckenbach, Texas where as the slogan goes, "Everybody's Somebody in Luckenbach." It was fun, but way too hot (no AC anywhere) so we headed out to Fredericksberg.
I didn't take anymore pictures the rest of the day...darn it! We walked around the shops in Frederickburg, ate dinner at
Cabernet Grill (yes, we ate chicken fried pecan pie), and enjoyed our cute little B&B Cottage that we found via
Main Street Lodging. We stayed at the "Courtyard Cottage" which I highly recommend- 2 bed/2 bath, fireplace, so cute and cozy and the breakfasts were heavenly.
Saturday
We got up, enjoyed our AMAZING breakfast and waited for our bus to pick us up for the wine tour. We
signed up for an all-day, 5 vineyard tour which included a guide, lunch at
Rathskeller and air conditioned bus. It was so great and we met some really nice people (and one really annoying couple who I may have told that their stories were annoying at the end of the day).

Saturday night we had dinner at
Navajo Grill. Sidenote, Jason and I ate there on our one-year of dating anniversary trip...awww!
Sunday
More yummy breakfast then we hit main street for more shopping. We ended the trip with lunch at The
Fredericksburg Brewery. It was a beautiful day so the drive home was nice. The boys drove and the girls read and slept...perfect! We even stopped on our way out of town for fresh peaches.
