Bling Overload - The Bachelorette

If you follow ABC's The Bachelorette, then you know that last week the Bachelorette, Jillian basically had three marriage proposals, but ended up picking Ed. So sweet- I give it four months. During the season finale, Mr. Neil Lane himself was there to present some stunning pieces for Ed and Kiptyon to choose from. Kiptyon chose a 3-carat princess cut-doesn't matter now since he wasn't picked.

Ed selected a more unique ring. Usually I am a fan of different, but this seems to be a little bling overload in my opinion. Shown below is the ring with pear center stone surrounded by 6 baguette-cut diamonds and 94 round-cuts.

What do you think?

The Great Wedding Band Debate - Followup

My goodness I could not make a decision about what to do about a wedding band. Go custom, nothing at all, regular band for when I don't wear my e-ring. I finally decided to do the custom route and I couldn't be more happy! It turned out great.

I really had no idea what the ring would look like other than it would wrap around my ring and have diamonds. I suspected it would look something like this:
And the end result...

Bling, Bling Bye-Bye

Guess what I picked up a few days ago? My wedding band!!! It comes with a good story too. I think Jason and I are bad luck to jewelers. Mom and I went to check on the progress of my custom band the other day when we were out running around. I was shocked to see a sign on the door and a locked up store. I immediately thought...OMG the store went bankrupt and they have my engagement ring!!!!!!

I ran to the sign and read that that particular location was closed for good, but there one and only other location was still open. Whew. I called them and then hopped in my car to quickly pick up my rings just in case their other location was next. I was literally nervous to see the wedding band. That is the problem with custom. You really don't know how it will turn out.

Lucky for Jason and I it looks amazing! It is exactly what I wanted and envisioned and bonus-Jason loves it too!

I wish I could show you a pic, but again, my camera is dead...RIP cute red camera. I will try and get mom to take a pic of it this week. For now, the ring above will have to work. It really does look somewhat similar to this.

On a related note, Jason and I received a letter last week saying that the place where we purchased my diamond is closing all of their Houston stores. The economy is really taking a toll on every industry!
I present to you our commitment symbols to each other: I think they look great together and are perfectly unique!!!

The Great Wedding Band Debate - Update

After much debate and help from my friends and fellow bloggers, I decided to go with the custom wedding band for my engagement ring! J and I (and my MOH) went to the jeweler who made my e-ring to order the band. After some frustration, I feel good about it, but am VERY anxious to see the end result!!!!

We told the jeweler a teeny-tiny band with teeny-tiny diamonds that will wrap around the ring and sit lower than the ring does so you can still see the beautiful and unique detailing on the e-ring.

We will see what happens! The bad news is that we won't be able to see it until May 21...two days before the wedding AND I had to give them my engagement ring until then...I am ringless! It felt so weird that I am now wearing my old James Avery love knot that my mom gave me years ago. It will suffice!

Here is a refresher of what my ring looks like:

Here is an idea of what the band may look like (but mine shoud be much more thin and dainty):

The Great Wedding Band Debate

I have a huge decision to make and I keep going back and forth! I know I am being dramatic and this is really a fun thing to have to worry with. My engagement ring is so beautiful-I love it so much and it is perfectly unique for me. It does have a unique shape to it so a flat wedding band will not sit flush on it. It is very vintage-looking-my fave!!! When I first saw the ring where it was designed (after I absolutley fell in love with it), I thought-"oh no!" I love it, but what will I do for a wedding band??? These are my options:

a. No band-just wear the engagement ring because it is pretty enough to stand alone
b. Have a band custom made to fit against the ring by the jeweler who designed and made the engagement ring. If I choose this option, I have already spoken to the jeweler and he suggests a thin band with small channel-set round diamonds to match my ring.

c. Get a traditional wedding band, wear it on my right hand and then if I ever don't want to wear the full on engagement ring, I can just wear the band on my left hand.

I need your opinion! Is anyone out there that has faced this dilemma?

Jason's Wedding Band

We purchased Jason's ring this week! We are just checking things off the list!!! Jason originally wanted all yellow gold, but it was pointed out to him that most of what he wears (watch and cuff links) are silver or white gold, so he decided on...
