Favorite Things

One of my favorite things right now is my new Orla Kiely bag that Jason got me for my birthday!  It is really comfortable to wear, holds everything and the bright colors make me happy.

Weekend Recap

Friday
I finally got to see Something Borrowed with Ashley!  We saw an early movie right after work.  It was so good...not going to win any awards or anything, but a perfect chick flick.  I just hope they now make Something Blue, the followup to the first book by Emily Giffin.  I've already read it, but want to pull it out and read it again since my memory is foggy.

After the movie, Jason and I loaded up the car, Tuckster in tow, and headed to Matagorda for the long weekend.  We got there late and pretty much just went to sleep after we arrived.  Glad we left Friday though because Jason had a fishing trip the next day at 6am and I was so not interested in leaving Houston at 4:30am on Saturday.

Saturday
While the boys fished, I slept in and hung out with my mom...oh and she committed to a lost puppy who needed a home, never saw the dog, but knew she wanted him so basically got a dog over email!  We then started making lists of what she needed to buy come Monday.  The rest of the day we tanned burned, read, napped, relaxed.  We ate so much junk food...terrible Chelsea!  Ice cream, queso, cookies, the works!

Sunday
Pretty much the same as Saturday- sleep-eat-lay out-boat ride-junk food-fishing.  The boys caught a couple of stingrays off the dock which was fun.

Monday
We packed it up and headed back to Houston.  It was an exciting day for my mom who picked up her new baby, Buddy!  He is so cute and seems to be the best dog!  He's a schnauzer who is around 2-3 years old.  Jason grilled the flounder they caught and we watched The Bachelorette...perfect long weekend!

Weekend Recap

Friday
The Avett Brothers concert at Verizon!  This was one of the best shows we have seen in a long time.  We did not want it to end.  The opening band, Truth and Salvage Co. was great too and we are considering seeing them on June 3 when they are back in town at Fitzgeralds.  After the show I was crazy craving pizza so we hopped in to Birraporetti's downtown for a pie to go.  So bad for me, but so amazing!

Saturday
We got up too early and drove to Jason's hometown for his grandmother's 85th birthday party.  After that party, we went to Jason's childhood friend's graduation party in the evening.  We were pooped.

Sunday
Lunch with Jason's family then we packed it up and drove back to Houston for typical Sunday chores.  We stopped at the town's famous Collin Street Bakery for my favorite Cherry Icebox Cookies so I was happy camper even though it was a long drive.

Monday
Tonight I have a Junior League meeting, which normally I would be dreading (they are not that bad, I just love to workout and relax after work), BUT it is our Provisional Celebration!!!  I'm officially done with my provisional term which I started in October 2009, crazy huh!

And...The Bachelorette starts tonight too!  Who is watching?

2 Year Wedding Anniversary

Two years ago today, Jason and I got married in front of friends and family and vowed to spend the rest of our lives together.  What an amazing day!

Happy Anniversary Jason!  I love you and have loved being your wife for the past 2 years.  Can't wait for many, many more.

Weekend Recap - Birthday Edition!

I realize it's almost a new weekend and I'm just now recaping the last one, but it's been a busy week.  Last Friday was my birthday and I had an amazing last week and weekend celebrating thanks to my husband, family and friends!
It started a whole week before with the start of "Birthday Week."  Birthdays are huge in my famiily (thanks to my mom - ever since I was small, she always went above and beyond on our birthdays).  So Jason and I celebrate "Birthday Week" by giving cards and small gifts throughout the week.  Over the course of the week Jason got me cards, a Sprinkles cupcake, balloons, flowers, candy, and a cute little Sparrow's Nest from Paper Source.

We celebrated Wednesday with my sister-in-law at Ra Sushi.  I had drinks and cupcakes on Thursday with my Junior League gals at Absolve.  Shopping spree and lunch with my mom on Friday...we had so much fun!  Dinner wtih Ashley and Wentzel Friday night at Adobe Cafe.  Dinner with my hubby - just the two of us at Haven on Saturday night.  And finally, dinner wtih my Dad and Karin on Sunday night at Escalantes.  Can't believe I didn't gain 20 pounds!

Thank you to everyone who made my birthday so special. I am one lucky girl!

Rosie Pope SNL Skit

If you watch Bravo's "Pregnant in Heels" you will LOVE this Saturday Night Live skit about Rosie Pope, the shows star.  I died laughing...then I made Jason die laughing, because I make him watch this show with me and he always asks where she is from and why she talks like that...

Pinot's Palette

Earlier this week I got the opportunity to go to Pinot's Pallette with some of the lovely ladies that I volunteer with at the Junior League. I heard great things about this place, but was actually a little nervous about painting this:

I'm am no artist and even though everyone told me that anyone can do it, I figured I would be exception and end up with this:

So glad I went - we had a blast. The concept of Pinot's Palette is to get together with friends, eat, drink and paint. You get to bring your own snacks and wine and they provide everything else. An artist sits at the front of the class and takes you step by step through the painting.  Each night is something different.

And the finished product!  We did so good!  I definitely recommend checking this place out.  They have a couple of locations in Houston and are looking to add more in the area and possibly more cities like Austin.  Signup online because classes do sell out - ours did.  You can book private parties too.

Pet Peeves

Yesterday I was walking home from the gym and I started thinking about things that really get under my skin.  Probably because I was annoyed with some stupid people just moments before.  These are the things that really dig at me.

Please share yours too!

-  When pet owners don't put their dogs on a leash.  Tucker hates this too.  It's scary when a big dog, even a friendly one, rushes a little chihuahua

-  Rushing into the elevator before letting those inside exit (this is one of the things yesterday)

-  Standing directly in front of someone at an aerobics class...people want to see themselves in the mirror, not your backside!  (yes, another thing yesterday)

-  Not RSVPing for something.  This is just plain rude!

-  Talking on the phone in the bathroom.  It kills me when I hear someone doing this!  Even worse, is when they act annoyed when you flush as if they were keeping it a secret to the person on the other end that they are actually in a restroom stall.

-  People who talk really loud on their cell phones.  I can be loud sometimes so I try to never be this person.  Nobody wants to hear your conversation, although I must admit that at times when I've been by myself at a restaurant or something these people do provide me with some entertainment.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

May is my favorite month of the year!  This particular May should be a great one.  Here are the things I'm looking forward to:
-  Going to Pinot's Palette with my Junior League Tea Room gals
-  Getting to celebrate my awesome mom on Mother's Day
-  Seeing Something Borrowed with Ashley
-  The Avett Brothers rescheduled concert
-  Chelsea Handler's book release
-  Scott Weiland's book release
-  Celebrating Jason's grandmother's 85th birthday
-  Completing my Provisional Year of Junior League
-  2-year Wedding Anniversary!!!
-  My 28th Birthday!

What are you looking forward to this month?

Weekend Recap

CoFriday night we stayed home and even cooked.  We were pooped from the week (and getting up way to early for the Royal Wedding), so we rested, caught up on the DVR and did a little laundry.

Saturday, we both got up early - I was volunteering at the Junior League Tea Room so Jason went to work to catch up on a few projects.  We met back up at the house around 3pm, had a late lunch and headed to the Houston International Festival to meet my Dad and Karin.

We had so much fun!  We walked around and ate terrible, but yummy food (corn dogs, sausage on a stick, cobbler, you get the idea), browsed the local vendors and caught a few concerts!  It was great people watching too.

Jason was very excited for this Turkey Leg.  Boy loves his meat!  A sausage on a stick followed.
Sunday, we slept in and spent the entire morning resting because we had Buzz Fest later that day!  We got to the Woodlands around 4pm just in time for Puddle of Mudd and Seether.  Our seats were awesome... just a few rows back from the stage!  Unfortunately, I was feeling a little under the weather, so we didn't stay for all of the bands, but we still feel like we got our money's worth.  Favorite part:  Seether covering Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box

When we got home, we learned of Osama Bin Laden's death and were glued to the news for a while until we passed out.

Can't believe it's May now!  My favorite month...have a great week!
