Five on Friday

This has been a booger of a week so if I haven't emailed you back, responded to your blog comment or even called you back - I'm sorry!  My normally happy baby has turned into a fussy, grumpy, not ever wanting to sleep little guy.  I'm taking him to the doctor today to see if we can pinpoint the cause...teething, allergies, my diet...I have no idea and its the worst feeling in the world.  We have a busy weekend and house guests so I can't promise I will do any better on responding, but I will certainly try!  Sorry to be Debbie Downer today, but I always appreciate when bloggers are real about things...womp, womp!

Here are 5 HAPPY things to focus on!

--ONE--

It's been a week since I cut and colored my hair and I am 110% happy with my decision.  I love it and love how easy it is!

--TWO--

Houston Moms Blog just announced the Cutest Texans Fan Photo Contest.  The prize is amazing and I will be super jealous when you win.  It includes a ton of cute Texans items for mom, dad and kiddos, plus a photography session.  Good luck and Go Texans!

Can you spy Jack and Tucker in the post

--THREE--

In TV news, The Walking Dead returns on Sunday night.  Is it weird that the theme music to Walking Dead reminds me of being pregnant?  All of those Walking Dead marathons last spring stuck with me!

New shows that I'm loving so far are The Blacklist and Trophy Wife.  Still loving Parenthood and The Voice so much!  Did anyone watch the Cory Monteith tribute on Glee last night?  I have it recorded and hope to watch (with a box of tissues) this weekend.

--FOUR--

Ashley from Everything's Hunky Dorey sent me a sweet email yesterday nominating me for the Sunshine Blog Award.  Thank you Ashley!  You made my day and I look forward to posting my responses soon.  I love new bloggy friends!!!

--FIVE--

Jack's 4 month pictures that I ordered from Studio Ainsley were ready for pickup today.  Not only are the images amazing as I've already discussed here, but the studio does such an awesome job of packaging everything up.  They always throw in a special surprise!!!  Even their USB Flash Drives are precious!  It's like Christmas!

Funny how God works.  I've had such a crazy week, yet look at all the good things that happened in the past few days to lift me up.  Special thanks to Ashley also for all of her helpful texts this week too.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

It's Not Negativity, It's Critical Thinking

Did anyone else watch the Girls, Season 2 Finale?  I was slightly disappointed in the second season of Girls as compared to the first, but that's probably just because the first season was so incredible, new and fresh.

Spolier Alert:  Don't keep reading if you haven't watched the episode yet!

I was a little shocked at the direction of the show this last episode.  I know Lena Dunham knows what she is doing and likely has a very poetic reason for this, but pretty much each "broken" character was left being saved by a man.  Not exactly female empowerment.

Marnie was saved by Charlie (although I loved their conversation outside of brunch).  Even though Shosh broke up with Ray, she made it all better with the blonde dude at the bar.  And our most broken OCD'er Hannah was finally saved by Adam, after seeking help from her dad and male neighbor.  Interesting.

My favorite part of the whole episode was the conversation between Ray and Shoshanna in her apartment.

Shoshanna says:   "I can't be surrounded by your negativity while I'm trying to grow into a fully formed woman. You hate everything!"

To which Ray responds:  "Maybe it's not negativity, but critical thinking!"

Being the negative one in my relationship (and having been this way my whole life) I got a major kick out of this...and so did Jason.

Here's to an even better third season and Lena Dunham's cute pixie cut.  Also did anyone else catch the Fun song in the episode? (Lena Dunham's bf in real life is the guitarist of Fun)

Smash is Back!

Just a reminder that the new season of Smash premiers tonight on NBC with a 2-hour episode!  Who else is excited?  This will help me cope with missing Parenthood right now.

Girls

Jason and I watch enough television as is without having premium movie channels so we have never spent the extra money on it, however, after hearing the rave reviews from critics and more importantly,  my girlfriends, I added HBO to our channel list solely for Girls.

Being touted as the Sex and the City for a younger generation, Girls is a show about four post-collegiate twenty-something girls living in New York City.  I caught up yesterday on all three episodes and can say that I absolutely LOVE it.  The writing is hilarious, but the best part is the REALNESS of it.  It's more real than reality TV...the four main actresses (and supporting cast) all look like real people (I mean as much as you can for Hollywood)!  And they speak about real situations facing young women after college, in a sarcastic hilarious way of course.

Some are saying it's a bleak depiction of what real women face, but I would beg to differ...boyfriends, love, dating, drugs, periods, careers, money, sex, abortion, STD's, friendships, parents, being kicked out of the nest, homosexuality, following your dream vs. paying the bills.  Maybe us girls, don't have to face every and all of the situations all at once, but I'm sure every girl or woman can relate to at least three on this list!

Fun tidbits of info: Lena Dunham the main character, writes and directs the show too.  Allison Williams, who plays Marnie, is Brian Williams (NBC news anchor) daughter.  The show is produced by Judd Apatow, of 40-Year Virgin and Knocked Up.

Wednesday Night TV

There are two new shows that Jason and I are obsessed with this season and of course they come on same day, same time...thank goodness for DVR!  Hands down the best shows on TV right now.

Revenge, ABC - 9pm Central
Pretty basic plot - girl seeking revenge on rich people in the Hamptoms after her father is wrongly accused of a crime.  However, you have no idea how evil these people are and never know what's coming next.

American Horror Story, FX - 9pm Central (played again at 10pm Central)
It's FX, so this is NOT a family show.  Very risque and creepy about a family who trys to start over in a new house.  Too bad it's haunted and their troubled past comes back too!  Dylan McDermont looks AMAZING in it.  Also stars Connie Britton from Friday Night Lights.  I can't believe that the creator of this show is also the creator of Glee!

BA-NAN-AS

"I can't even handle it"
 "I die"
"Shut it down"
{All said in a major valley girl voice}

What does all of this mean...The Rachel Zoe Project is back on Bravo!

Tuesday nights @ 9pm Central

New Cast of Dancing with the Stars Announced

DWTS 13 Celebs were just announced and include, along with their given descriptive titles...and some of my thoughts in parentheses:

-  Chaz Bono "The Most Unexpected" (will he dance with a girl?)
-  Nancy Grace "The Courtroom Queen" (I predict she will go home first)
-  David Arquette "King of the Big Scream" (Hope he is paired with Lacey.  Can't you see it!)
-  Ron Artest "The NBA Champion"
-  Ricki Lake "Daytime's Darling"
-  Chynna Phillips "The Pop Princess (Career comeback)
-  Kristin Cavallari "The Reality Sweetheart" (LC wasn't available)
-  Carson Kressly "The Fashion Guru (I expect his outfits to be fabulous)
-  Rob Kardashian - "Reality's Royalty" (The Token Kardashian - so sick of this family!  If one more family member gets cast, the show should be renamed Dancing with the Stars and a Kardashian)
-  J.R. Martinez - "Soap's Real-Life Hero" (Who?)
-  Hope Solo - "The Soccer Superstar"
-  Elisabetta Canalis - "The Italian Beauty" (that girl that Clooney dated)

Rosie Pope SNL Skit

If you watch Bravo's "Pregnant in Heels" you will LOVE this Saturday Night Live skit about Rosie Pope, the shows star.  I died laughing...then I made Jason die laughing, because I make him watch this show with me and he always asks where she is from and why she talks like that...

Why aren't you coming to Houston?????  I would SO be there.

Jason and I have been wanting to plan a trip to Vegas...wonder if he would be game for this.  Highly doubt.  Anyone else planning on checking this out?  Dates are listed on Ticketmaster and go on sale 2/19.

Houston Hottie

Who is excited for the new season of The Bachelorette starting May 24?

Houston weatherman, Jonathan Novack (Ch. 2) is one of the contestants this season competing for Ali Fedotowsky!  Spoiler Alert: Reality Steve says he goes home by Episode 4...awww!  It will be fun to see a localebrity compete this season!

In case Reality Steve is wrong, Go Jonathan

He just looks like a Bachelor...Andrew Firestone meets Jake Pavelka.  Maybe next season?

Out Sick

I have been home sick since Thursday night...Strep Throat!!!  Jason has been at work and entertaining family that are in town so I've been a little bored.  Luckily...MTV has been running a Hills marathon starting with Season 1.  I'm in heaven!!!

I can't believe how much Heidi's looks have changed.  Whoa.

Before Heidi Season 1:

After Surgery 1, Season 3:

After Surgery 11, Season 6:

Looking a little plasticky and stiff, Heidi!

If you are a Hills and/or The City Fan, the new season of both (and the last of The Hills) premeries this Tuesday on MTV!

Ed a Cheater?

This just in...was Ed cheating on Jillian during the taping of The Bachelorette?

Judge for yourself

Maybe that is why he picked out such a blinding ring!

Bling Overload - The Bachelorette

If you follow ABC's The Bachelorette, then you know that last week the Bachelorette, Jillian basically had three marriage proposals, but ended up picking Ed. So sweet- I give it four months. During the season finale, Mr. Neil Lane himself was there to present some stunning pieces for Ed and Kiptyon to choose from. Kiptyon chose a 3-carat princess cut-doesn't matter now since he wasn't picked.

Ed selected a more unique ring. Usually I am a fan of different, but this seems to be a little bling overload in my opinion. Shown below is the ring with pear center stone surrounded by 6 baguette-cut diamonds and 94 round-cuts.

What do you think?
