In Exactly One Week...

I will be at BuzzFest!

For those of you not from Houston, BuzzFest is an annual all-day rock concert hosted by a local radio station, 94.5 The Buzz.  I used to go every year when I was in high school.  My mom would drop me and my friends off and pick us up since we were too young to drive.  We would crowd surf, lay out in our bikini tops on the lawn, and hear some really cool bands.  At past Buzz Fest events, I've seen: Spacehog, Foo Fighters, Owsley, The Flys, Lit, Papa Roach, Our Lady Peace and other great bands.

This year, the bill includes:

Limp Bizkit

Seether

Deftones

30 Seconds to Mars (yes, Jared Leto's band)

Switchfoot

Three Days Grace

I'm so excited!  Hopefully 2 geezers like Jason and I will be able to hang all day...and make it to work the very next day.

Out Sick

I have been home sick since Thursday night...Strep Throat!!!  Jason has been at work and entertaining family that are in town so I've been a little bored.  Luckily...MTV has been running a Hills marathon starting with Season 1.  I'm in heaven!!!

I can't believe how much Heidi's looks have changed.  Whoa.

Before Heidi Season 1:

After Surgery 1, Season 3:

After Surgery 11, Season 6:

Looking a little plasticky and stiff, Heidi!

If you are a Hills and/or The City Fan, the new season of both (and the last of The Hills) premeries this Tuesday on MTV!

Spring has Sprung

A few weeks ago Jason and I got motivated to spruce up our front yard and back patio.  Really what motivated us was how amazing our neighbors yards looked...we felt like the neighborhood slackers!  It was a lot of work, but well worth it!  We had lots of fun with it and it gave us a chance to spend some much needed time together.

Weeks later, I am happy to report that we have only lost one plant.

Exhausted!

I am so exhausted!  I just got home from a long day, climbed in bed in my PJ's and had the urge to blog.  I haven't had a day off in longer than a week...I'm not complaining because a.) I'm happy to have a job, b.) I get myself over-involved, c.) it's good for me!

Last week was hectic due to Preview planning.  Some of you may know that I am the Director of Recruitment for a university as my day job.  We put on Preview Weekends a few times a year where prospective students come to campus, stay overnight in the dorms and spend the weekend with us taking tours and learning all about our programs.  It is a great program, but so much work!

That event was Friday through Saturday afternoon.  Friday night I also attended a Gala for a Private high school in Houston that we support.  Back to Preview the next day...I was exhausted, but then went straight from Preview to Incredible Pizza Company (it's like Chuckie Cheese) for the Student Ambassador (tour guides) end of year social.

I had to work Sunday at a conference for admissions professionals.  Not only was I attending the conference, but am on the conference planning committee and a presenter!  I had a huge presentation Sunday afternoon followed by dinner and networking.

Today I was at the conference all day and presented this afternoon.  Back again tomorrow for more!  Then I have to make it through the rest of the week.  Ugghhh...I need a break!

Just kidding...I love it, but I am enjoying kicking back for a a little while right now.  Anyone have any fun plans this weekend?

Here is a fun picture of my team at work:

T-T-T

Tone - Tighten - Tan

That is my motto right now!  Gotta get ready for summer and all of the fun things that we have planned...a week in Costa Rica, wedding in Vegas, and I'm sure lots of trips to Matagorda for sun and relaxation.

Tone & Tighten: Jason and I joined LA Fitness and got ourselves a trainer.  So far, so good.  We are still alive, very sore,  but can already see small improvements.  I also joined Weight Watchers online.  Never tried, but I like it so far.  What makes it even easier is the WW Iphone App so you can keep track of your points on the go.

Tan:  I know, lecture me now!  I just look and feel so much better with a tan...I'm justifying it by saying that I'm just getting myself a little color and then I will stop and switch to spray tans.

Who Does That?...The Purifoys!

Jason and I have been itching to join a gym together.  I belong to one through work, but Jason is not a member and it is a haul to get there from our house so the search was on to find a gym close to home.  I did the initial research for us.  My criteria was:

-  non intimidating...I don't want a gym where you have to get cute for!
-  clean...I don't want to smell sweat
-  safe parking lot for those late night workouts by myself

I had a fun experience checking out a few gyms (sarcasm).  One manager said that based on my age, height and weight, I was dangerously overweight and another said that I reallyneeded to join a gym as he eyed me up and down with a disguisted look on his face.  I know I could stand to lose about 20 pounds, but come on peeps, did manners go out the window!  I guess breaking people down is the best way to sell gym memberships.  Not for this girl!

Long story short, I found one that I really liked so I brought J back last week to scope.  About 1.5 later we left the gym...signed up not only with memberships, but with a pesonal trainer!  We were pumped.  So what did we do...go home and change into workout clothes and hit the gym?  Oh no, not the Purifoys!  We went out for burgers!

Our trainer really has he work cut out for him...Wednesday is going to be he**!

Weekend Work

Happy Easter (a little late) blog friends!  I hope you had a great weekend.  I was super excited for a 3-day weekend, even though Jason had to work on Friday.  I scheduled my first training session with my new trainer Friday morning and I also planned on running errands, getting some work done, maybe a pedicure, blah, blah.

I woke up Friday feeling terrible- sore throat, aches, fever, etc.  Called the trainer to cancel- I'm sure he thinks I am just full of poo and lazy.  I tried to lay in bed and rest, but I was restless and started feeling anxious about our messy house and all of the things that I needed to get done.  I felt guilty for being sick!

Do you ever have one of those days when you feel like your life is out of control?  That was Friday.  I pulled my sick self out of bed and was off to get things done.  I picked up cleaning supplies, office supplies (made me feel better just looking at them), dry cleaners.  I even stopped to get my car inspected.

I went home cleaned my rugs, hired a carpet cleaner to come the next day, cleaned out my office, and made my life feel more in order.  Mission accomplished!  Jason even joined in and got his car inspected on the way home and made dinner.

Saturday our plan was YARDWORK!  We were actually looking forward to this all week.  We wanted to be able to enjoy the sun, sweat, get a tan, and spend some much needed time together.  We went to Home Depot, Houston Garden Center and HEB.  We did a yard makeover to our front porch and the back!  All in one day...before and after pictures coming later this week.  In the middle of the yard chaos, carpet cleaners came to clean our entire second floor.  We ended the long day of work by trying out a new neighborhood Mexican restaurant...El Toro.  It was awesome...queso, enchiladas, tres leches, oh my!  Bedtime came early so I could make sure I got over whatever bug I had.

On Easter we went to church with my mom and stepdad and grandparents.  Afterwards we had a huge brunch at my mom's...yum!  The rest of the day was back to work- laundry, groceries, more planting, cleaning and part-time job stuff.

You would think we would be too exhausted, but it actually felt really good.  This Wedesday, we have our first training appointment together.  Wish us luck...our trainer is very intimidating!

Hope you have a great week!
