Simply Stunning

I couldn't let the day go by without talking about this week's big topic: The Royal Wedding. I haven't been paying too much attention to all of the speculation leading up to today about dresses, hair, etc, but I was excited to watch it.  Even though I had to work a full day today, I wanted to at least try and get up early to watch it (I did DVR the Today Show's full show hour coverage just in case I couldn't wake up).

My alarm went off at 3am, but that was just a bit too early so I snoozed for an hour and turned on the TV around 4am just in time to watch the final guests and wedding party arriving.  I told myself I would just watch until Kate walked into the church and go back to sleep, but I ended up watching the ENTIRE thing: Kate leaving the hotel, the arrivals, the full hour ceremony, the carriage rides (I did jump in the shower during this part), the first kiss, the second kiss, everything!  I'm pretty tired, but it was worth it.

This is one of my favorite pictures.  To say Kate looked stunning is an understatement.  Her dress, hair, veil, jewelry, makeup, all was perfect.

I am also in love with Pippa- love the name, love her dress, love her!  She did such a great job with all of the children, Kate's train, and looked fabulous while doing it.

I love her dress so much and think this one will get replicated just as much (if not more) than Kate's dress for bridal gowns.

Props to Kate because I just don't know that many brides who would be confident enough in themselves to let the maid of honor (with a killer figure) where such a stunning white gown at the wedding.  The blogs are already going crazy about the appropriateness of Pippa's white dress, but I loved it and thought it was sweet and classic, but with a nice modern twist.

And one final note...Pippa Purifoy?  Thoughts?  If not for my child (no, I'm not pregnant) I think we will see this name spike in popularity this year.

Now Pippa and Kate - go enjoy some wedding cake.  You both look great, but a little hungry!

Dress Love

Have you discovered Tracy Negoshian yet?  If not, then go check her out!  As the designer states, you already know Tory (Burch) and Trina (Turk)...now meet Tracy...but for a fraction of the cost!

I own one tunic from her, but will hopefully be adding a dress or 2 or 3 to my collection soon!  I love her because of the bright colors and fun patterns.  I love summer dresses more than anything - just throw on with some sandals and go.  Cute but comfortable.  And most importantly in the Houston heat, cool!  Here are my faves from her Spring/Summer 2011 collection.

Weekend Recap - Easter 2011

We had a great weekend!  Jason and I started the weekend off by seeing Scream 4 with Jason's sister.  I loved it, Jason thought it was okay, but it was a great night because I treated myself to some candy and we were in bed by 11!

Saturday I ventured out on my own to shop...but not fun, careless, la la shopping...I need shorts!  Sounds easy right...NOT!  I went to NY&Co., Gap, Ann Taylor Loft, and Express (all the spots in the same shopping center...Rice Village for you Houstonians).  The shorts were either WAY too short (hello high school days) or "mom" shorts and nerdy looking.  Is it too much to ask for to be classy and tasteful without being nerdy?  I heard a lady in the dressing room next to me (who was also short shopping) say "these make me look like I have an elephant's saggy butt!"  It lifted my spirits.

If anyone has any suggestions, please share!

I ended up getting 2 pairs at Ann Taylor Loft.  They are okay, but I wouldn't consider it a success (the 40% off helped).

Saturday night Jason, me, my mom and stepdad LE went to a wedding.  The (huge) wedding was for the brother of a girl that LE and I work with- needless to say we did not know anyone, but we had a great time.  No pictures...sorry people!  It was stunning though and Jason and I were seated at the table of an Indian pop star...not sure if she is Britney status or Pia status...we'll say Britney.

Then Easter Sunday!  We went to church Sunday morning with mom and LE...I'm sure they are sick of us!

Later that afternoon, we headed to my mom's for food, family, an Easter Egg Hunt and more FOOD!  We had a blast and stuffed ourselves silly on so much good food: hamburgers, ham, homemade ice cream w/toppings, bread pudding, candy, cookies, queso...it was excessive, but wonderful!

Things I'm Loving

AKA: Birthday gift ideas for Jason...hint, hint!

Orla Kiely bag off of Piperlime.  I've wanted an Orla bag for years, but never acted on it.  I tend to wear lots of solids dark colors so this would give my outfits a pop of color!

Tory Burch Sandals from Nordstrom.  I know these are pricey, but that's Tory Burch for ya.  I think I would get my money's worth of these.  Perfect color (sand/gold), can be dressed up or down and so comfy!

Bright yellow Sperry's...yes please!  Found here or at Dillards.

New "Travel Wallet" from Vera Bradley in Deco Daisey.  I love that it has compartments for your passport, ID and Boarding pass.

Have a great weekend, Happy Earth Day and Happy Easter!
We have a fun and busy weekend planned starting with  Scream 4 tonight.

Haute Wheels Houston

Houston's first food truck festival will roll into town May 14-15 at HCC Southwest Campus.  I think it will be worth checking out - food, drinks, and music!  Visit their website for more info.  I'm most excited to try Fusion Taco and Bernie's Burger Bus...I've heard great things!  Cost is $16/day plus a mandatory trip to the gym (at least for me) the day after.

Weekend Recap

Jason and I left town Friday afternoon with Tucker in tow for Matagorda, TX (the place where we got engaged).  We stayed at my mom and step-dad LE's place....actually the "cottage" next door to their house.  It was great and should have taken a pic of it.

Friday night we took a boat ride, ate pizza and hung out with my mom, LE, my step-brother Todd and his daughter Carly.  Early bedtime...although I did stay up and watch a marathon of "Say Yes to the Dress"...why is that show so great?

Saturday we fished, sunned, boated and went to the beach.  Highlights included finding a sand dollar on the beach and Jason catching a weird "snake fish" off the dock.  We both got lots of sun!!!  Also, LE caught a large redfish off the dock (about 25 inches) and Jason is literally cooking it right now for Sunday supper.

Weekend Recap X 7

Oops...I let these recaps slip!  Let me catchup on our past seven weekends!  Sorry for lack of pictures.  I've decided that I need a new camera and that is why I haven't been taking any pictures.  My current camera stinks and only likes taking blurry pictures.  I hate it.  Think that would make an excellent birthday present from someone...

March 5-6:  Volunteered in JL tea room, Dinner and drinks at Stella Sola with Jason's sis Jeanna, that Sunday we didn't leave the house!

March 12-13:  Big event for work at one of our surgery centers, early dinner at Haven, saw Red Riding Hood with Jason's sis Jeanna (don't waste your time or money on this movie)

March 19-20:  Co-hosted a Daughters of the Republic of Texas meeting with my mom and Grammy, lazy Sunday

Get Organized!

Check out this awesome blog, I Heart Organizing.  She posts monthly projects to get you organized.  I sort of failed on my "Happiness Project."  I just never got around to cracking that book open.  This blog is my new happiness project and fits into my life much easier.

March's project was a family binder, or in my case binder(s).  Now I'm super organized with tabs for medical, auto, Tucker, emergency, important dates, take-out menus (muy importante en mi casa), blog ideas, and on and on.  I had so much fun doing this.  I even went as far as to purchase the exact binder she used because it was so cute and matched the free templates so well.

She will keep her amazing free templates online until April 9 so hurry up and download them!

This month - "30 Items in 30 Days" aka my heaven...I love getting rid of stuff!
