31 Weeks

 

 

How far along: 31 weeks
Size of Baby P: 16.18 inches, 3.31 pounds (according to Pregnancy App)
Fruit/vegetable comparison: Squash (for weeks 29-32)
Gender: Boy
Showing: Yes (I sometimes forget how obvious it is now...this week while at a winebar I told the waitress I would just have water because I was pregnant.  She looked at me like DUH, you don't need to tell me that you cow). 
Maternity clothes: Yes...and even these are starting to get tighter!
Unglamorous body changes: Bigger belly everything and darker linea nigra and lately my feet seem bigger.  Not only are all of my shoes tighter (from swelling I presume), but my feet seem longer too!  So far that is my only major swelling.  No cankles just yet!
Sleep: Okay - a little bit of heartburn this week in the middle of the night plus having a hard time breathing has led me to sleeping on a major incline.  Jack loves to kick REALLY hard in the middle of the night too.  Guess he is going to be a night owl like his mama. 
Movement: TONS

Food cravings: Still lots of ice water, Rainbow sherbet, cookies
Anything making you queasy or sick: No

Wedding rings on or off: On, but getting tighter.  I'm currently only wearing my engagement ring.  My "stack" of bands is a little too uncomfortable. 

Mood:   All over the place
Best moment this week:  Jason telling me how beautiful I look.  It meant so much because it was a genuine, wow, you look really great moment. 

Strange experiences:  All of the sudden, I've made the switch of people constantly telling me how huge I am, to people saying how great I look (for how far along I am).  Maybe they just feel sorry for whale-body me, or maybe it's how I'm phrasing it.  As I type this I am now 32 weeks (or 8 months).  I've noticed if I tell people I'm 32 weeks I get a standard reaction.  If I say I'm 8 months, people go "wow, you look great!"  I think people forget that we are pregnant for 10 months, not 9.  So 8 seems like it's almost here.  Perception is reality and it's working in my favor. 

Milestones:   Baby will start to put on 1/2 pound a week from now until birth and baby is practicing breathing 30-40% of the time now. 

Looking forward to:    Upcoming baby showers!  Invitations went out this week for our Corsicana shower and second Houston shower!!!

Thoughts:    I had a great checkup this week with my doctor.  Based on my measurements he thinks that Jack will be "above average" in terms of size.  His best guess is about 8 pounds when he is born.  Hopefully I can handle pushing that out! It's also made me rethink the amount of newborn clothes I already have.  I probably have more than enough at this point since he will be big. 

Everyday I love to stare at Jack's 3D pics and do my kick counts with him.  I just can't wait to meet him and neither can Jason.
